Our Son

Kalvin Tyler is growing and changing every single day. He is now 2 1/2 weeks old, and is the absolute joy of our lives. We often find ourselves just watching him sleep. He is such a good little boy! He never cries and is comfortable whether we hold him or not (although we hold him most of the time) =) Here are a few new updated pictures

Kalvin Tyler Dixon

On July 23rd at 12:02 in the afternoon, Kelly gave birth to our beautiful baby boy. For both of us, words cannot express the feelings that we have had in the last few days. It has been amazing to see the number of family and friends that this little baby has touched so far, and we know that he will touch many more as he learns and grows. We are extremely pleased that he was born 100% healthy and alert. He is a very quiet and relaxed baby. As a matter of fact, he did not cry at all when he was born. Instead he was quietly, yet intensely, staring into his mothers eyes and studying her, trying to get to know her better. We do the same at any opportunity we get. We know now what it is to really feel joy, and know that the greatest moments in our lives will always revolve around our newly formed family. We hope you all get a chance to meet our son Kalvin soon. He will make you smile =)

35 Weeks.

The Countdown is on. We are officially only 5 weeks away from the due date. Kelly thinks that the little bambino will come early, but we'll just have to wait and see. What freaks us out is that fact that my mother had my little brother Benjamin at 35 weeks, which really puts into perspective just how close we are to becoming parents. Yikes....... So anyways, according to "The Bible" (What to expect when you're expecting), He can be as long as 20 inches by now, and weigh around 5 pounds. I was only 4lb 10oz when I was born, which also puts into perspective just how close we are. Like I said, yikes. Here's what He should look like about now:

We're Alive

We are here, we promise. We just don't have a ton of time to blog that's all..... So, here's a play by play of the last few months
  • It's a BOY! (You were all wrong. well, most of you). By some magic power, Kelly knew all along that it was a boy. The name that we have picked out for him is Kalvin Tyler Dixon. We love it!
  • Tyler is just about done with the hardest freaking semester of his life. Last final is Wednesday 4/29 @ 7am
  • Tyler got his license back! (yes, BACK)
  • We are convinced that Kalvin will be a pro soccer player by the way he kicks Kelly's ribs until they're sore, or even better, kicks her bladder =)
  • We had a great little vacation last month. We went down to Moab, UT for a weekend and had a ton of fun. We hiked the arches (yes, all 3 of us. Kelly's a good sport), searched for Indian petroglyphs, and had a lot of fun walking down main street enjoying the shops and food.
  • Tyler turned 24 the same day that Kalvin turned 24 weeks. We are now 28 weeks along as of today.
  • It was great to have Brad come home a few weeks ago.
  • Kelly and Lisa are having loads of fun decorating the extra bedroom for the baby's arrival. The colors are burnt orange and red, dark and light blue, yellow and some different shades of green. It sounds like a crazy combination, but it actually all comes together great! Once we have the room done we'll post some pictures up.
  • Tyler hates math (right now, anyways)
  • Kalvin LOVES cinnamon jolly ranchers and hates the vaccume. He really gets moving in mommy's tummy when he tastes (yes, he can taste now) that spicy cinnamon flavor. He also really startles when the vaccume comes on. It's actually quite funny
I think that's about it, and we will try to be better about keeping you more up to date, especially as our baby's arrival gets closer.

Whew!

Hey everyone,
We had our first doctors appointment on wednesday (1/7) and it went great, and guess what, NO TWINS! Whew!!! So sorry all of you who voted for twins, we will put up a new poll for you so you can vote for either a boy or girl. From the ultrasound picture we recieved, we could see the baby's little profile. The baby has Kelly's nose! (At least I think so)
